Sweet Sharing Saturday…praying you will be abundantly blessed with a post by “Welcome to Poetry Cottage”. Blessings for a sweet Saturday to share!
Chorus
I don’t want to be like Martha
Anymore, anymore, anymore
I don’t want to be like Martha
Captive to every fear and chore
I just want to be like Mary
At Jesus’ feet upon the floor
I just want to be like Mary
And listen at heaven’s healing door
Draw me to Thy voice
Draw me to Thy word
Draw me to the sweetest thing
These ears have ever heard
Close my eyes to see
Close my mouth to speak
Close every door open
Strengthen all that is weak
Chorus
I don’t want to be like Martha
Anymore, anymore, anymore
I don’t want to be like Martha
Captive to every fear and chore
I just want to be like Mary
At Jesus’ feet upon the floor
I just want to be like Mary
And listen at heaven’s healing door
Only in You is peace
Only in You is joy

Martha’s problem was not that she was serving her Lord but that in the serving she was hurried, hazzled, always in a tizz. (That’s the lesson I believe we are to learn from Mary and Martha. When Mary sat before Jesus – her whole focus, life and attention was on Him. (We all can be consumed by other thoughts ie what do I cook for lunch etc?) Oh how I want to be a Mary in this hectic insane world that would rob us of all God Time. Blessings!

Sometimes I feel like Martha gets a bum rap. In her own way, she wanted only the best for her Savior. Her way of doing that was offering her service, which is what we should do as followers of Christ. Mary was just a little more attentive.

I agree with you atimetoshare. After all someone has to do the children’s bible study class and other service activities, but I just want to be sure its I am doing the one He wants me to do. Mary in here “time” which was the better portion and not to be taken from her, knew the right time to anoint Jesus. The other two women didn’t get the opportunity in the right time. I so desire to be in the right timing with what He is doing and what He portions for me. Thank you for your comment. I always enjoy hearing from you:) So hard for us to be Mary in this very busy Martha world. Blessings in your weekend.
