Thankfulness Said

“Today’s not the day

To think what’s ahead.

Embrace the past,

With thankfulness said.

Faithful,

Hope and

Presence so dear;

Covering us with love

Each day of the year.

Thank You Jesus

For the well-being of heart.

Let it be the song

We sing as the

New Year starts.”

“Praise the LORD,

Call upon His Name;

Declare His deeds among the peoples,

Make mention that His Name

Is exalted.

Sing to the LORD,

For He has done excellent things.”

Isaiah 12:4-5 NKJV

Call Home

“Remember the day

When Momma

Would say,

“Here’s a dime

To call home

When you’re too far away?”

Or the quarter you borrowed

To slip in the slot

Cause your running late for dinner,

Or completely forgot?

The day of the dime

Has come and long gone,

But the phone in

Your pocket sings

Its own song.

“Lighten my files

And restore some space too.

Why not upload your photos

To a “cloud” in the blue?”

By taking the time

Before singing “Auld Lang Syne”,

Begin the

New Year with a

“Text” of good cheer.

“Brighten the view,

Why not,

Upload a file or two!”

“Auld Lang Syne” (Scots pronunciation: [ˈɔːl(d) lɑŋˈsəin]: note “s” rather than “z”) is a Scots poem written by Robert Burns in 1788 and set to the tune of a traditional folk song (Roud # 6294).

Treasures of Time

“A journal,

A journal,

More than a book.

Pages to turn,

Places to look.

Concealed inside

Are treasures of time.

A place to return

In Holy Land stride.

Memories and

Wisdom;

Thoughts far too deep

To absorb all at once,

So in writing we keep.

Days and hours of

The trip to enjoy.

Returning once more,

To our

Promise Land joy!”

 This photo was captured of me by a fellow traveler as I was writing in my journal at the Dead Sea – 2011.

Staff in Hand

“To travel once more to the Holy Land.

Walking the dirt;

Staff in hand.

Mind prepared;

Heart in shape;

Take us again to the Jaffa Gate!”

“They shall come and sing aloud on the height of Zion,

And they shall be radiant over the goodness of the Lord…

The young women rejoice in the dance,

And the young men and the old shall be merry.”

Jeremiah 31:12:13 (ESV)

Enduring Rain

“The Hoot Owl,

Enduring in the rain,

Cries his note of sorrow.

“Enough rain for today, kind Sir;

May I please see the sun tomorrow?”

“But ask now the beasts,

And they will teach you;

And the birds of the air,

And they will tell you;

Or speak to the earth, and

It will explain to you…

Who among these does not know?

That the hand of the LORD

Has done this.”

Job 12:7-9 NKJV

Silent Fog

“Lying in bed before rising,

Thinking on the silence of the day’s smog.

Resting in the mysteries on the horizon,

Soaking in the morning fog.”

“Madame Day holds classes every morning,

Professor Night lectures each evening.

Their words aren’t heard,

Their voices aren’t recorded,

But their silence fills the earth:

Unspoken truth is spoken everywhere.”

Psalm 19:2-4 (The Message)

Released from the Net

After a personal week of silence and in a dry place,

Truth broke through revealing the Light!

“If not depression,

This must be deception.

Stealing my joy,

Claiming the day.

Going about “like a lion”

Having its say.

Go away nasty nagger,

I’m tired of hearing from you.

Screaming nonsenses,

Repeating regrets;

Snagging my foot in

The “snare of the fowlers net”.

Release the grip

On my Joy;

Not another minute

Playing your toy.

I’m claiming my

“Hope”

In this season of

“Light”!

Speaking the

Mighty,

Powerful,

Magnificence,

Name of Jesus,

For He conquered darkness

And puts all evil to flight!”

“Our soul has escaped as a bird

From the snare of the fowlers;

The snare is broken, and we

Have escaped.” Psalm 124:7 NKJV

“Be sober, be vigilant;

Because your adversary the devil

Walks about

Like a roaring lion,

Seeking whom he may devour.

Resist him,

Steadfast in the faith…” 1 Peter 5:7-8 NKJV

“Though he falls, he will not be overwhelmed,

Because the LORD holds his hand.” Psalm 37:24 HCSB

“Then Jesus spoke to them again:

“I AM the Light of the world.

Anyone who follows Me will never

Walk in the darkness

But will have the light of life.”

John 8:12 HCSB

Drawing of Heart

“Would I give it all up for a night with

The King?

Would I leave house and home, and

Risk everything?

Would the “oil of gladness”

Be my morning song?

The sweet fragrance of myrrh

Carry me along?

But what if I stayed home safe on the couch?

No love song of joy, or

Hope in my mouth?

Bitter would cover the

Vision to see

His goodness and grace

Pursuing after me.

Drawing my heart and

Fulfilling my days;

Would I give it all up

For a night in His Ways?

Trusting in you Lord, my

Heart I do bring;

Yes, I’ll give it all up

For a night with the King!”

“Your eyes will behold

The King in His beauty.”

Isaiah 33:17 NKJV

Morning Wings

“Can I rise in time to see the sky?

Blink the blush from morning eyes?

Or will the clouds

Conceal the view

For uniquely theirs and

Only You?”

“In my distress I called upon the LORD,

And cried out to my God;

He heard my voice… and

He flew upon the wings of the wind…

He delivered me because He delighted in me.”

Psalm 18:6-19 NKJV

Song of David to the LORD on the day

He “delivered him from all his enemies and the hand of Saul.”

Calling the Heart

“What season lies ahead in December?

Calling the heart to remember?

Christmas and bells,

Sights and the smells;

All memories of gladness put together.

But centered on You,

I desire the view

Of a “Season” of ponder and praise.

For in life holds

More than silver and gold, and

The story of Love

Of the Babe from above

Bringing

Joy, Peace and Heaven forever!”

“Do not be afraid, for behold,

I bring good tiding of great joy

Which will be to all people.”

Luke 2:10 NKJV
