She Loves to Party

During Recess.

If you ever wondered what a school secretary and the Principal really do when the kids are outside at recess, well this second grader knows the real truth.

We party!

I love all the stars, hearts and what looks like balloons hanging from the ceiling in Maddison’s drawing. They are actually brightly colored paper flowers our student remembers seeing hanging in the office.

Kids aren’t always looking for fireworks and a plugin device to look at, sometimes it’s simply floating flowers in the most unusual places that brings joy to their heart and delight to the eye.

ps: The Principal is actually on the playground during Recess and I am at my desk putting on Band-Aids or washing woodchips, yes, you heard me right, woodchips from kids eyes. I haven’t actually found a “woodchip” in anyone’s eye, but I guess when Oklahoma winds get blowing even a piece of dust can feel like a wood chip in the eye.😊🎐

  1. Thank you. Delightful Blog. What takes up time for littlies and school secretaries in my community. It’s the constant reminder about keeping hats and shoes on. Summer or winter it’s the same. Either extremely Hot or chilly winds but still sun. One little fellow caught without shoes or hat remarked. ‘When I grow up I’ll sit in a big chair and drink coffee like you all do. ‘

    1. Oh my gosh Faye, that is the funniest 😂🤣😍 I can relate to jackets and shoes. Our climate is generally mild year round. It also changes without notice in 20 minutes. Our kids come in the morning with a jacket and like the masks, many are lost or forgotten on the playground to near be seen again. Each end of year, we have a hanging bar with all the jackets, hoodies and mismatch in the main hallway for a month. We are always amazed how not one item belongs to anyone in our building. There is definitely something concerning fabric that happens on the playground. Maybe those famous Oklahoma winds that sweep down from the plains brings coats and jackets from Kansas and our kids get blown down to Texas and Louisiana 🤔 😂 Thank you for sharing your “sitting in the big chair and drink coffee” story. Be on the lookout for jackets flying your way, all the way to the land down under♥️🎐🎐🎐
