The Roar of the Flight…

We were scheduled to leave

tomorrow for the

Holy Land.

Plans have been delayed.

Yes, I am disappointed,

but I will trust in Him Who calls me.

I pray you are blessed from a previous poem post.

I’ve added a few photos to enhance your journey:)

Photo taken while sailing on the Sea of Galilee looking towards Mount Arbel. “It is believed to be the location where Jesus would have gone to pray for it is walking distance from the Sea of Galilee, and its vantage point of more than 1000 feet overlooking the lake.”quote from “The King’s Highway – Jesus Revealed in Psalm 119”

“And after He had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by Himself to pray.” Matthew 14:23 (ESV)

Have You Seen My Love? – the road by which I went.

The Sea of Galilee

Journal Entry 2/19/11 – 12:30 p.m.

“The Sea has turned from quiet stillness,

 with the full moon reflecting God’s glory,

to the sounds of breakers steady,

and beating on the shoreline.

Full moon reflecting God's glory
Full moon reflecting God’s glory

There is no beach to speak of from this view;

six floors perched above the Sea.

The night sounds of the music in the hotel

are quickly be drowned out

by the increasing motion

of the Sea beating on the shore.

The lights in the distance

Lights in the distance across the Sea are soft on the hillside.
Lights in the distance across the Sea are soft on the hillside.

across the Sea are soft on the hillside.

Light cloud cover, dims the stars above.

Several peak out to remind me

they are there;

regardless of my vantage point.

What do you have for me

my Lord and Savior of my soul –

Jesus

I praise You Lord for the plan.

Now seeing dimly, but then face to face.”

"On my bed by night I sought Him whom my soul loves;
“On my bed by night I sought Him whom my soul loves;
...I sought Him, but found Him not.
…I sought Him, but found Him not.
...I will rise now and go about the city,
…I will rise now and go about the city,
...in the streets and in the squares;
…in the streets and in the squares;
...I will seek Him who my soul loves.
...I will seek Him who my soul loves.
...I sought Him, but found Him not.
…I sought Him, but found Him not.
...The watchmen found me as they went about the city.
…The watchmen found me as they went about the city.
...'Have you seen Him who my soul loves?"
...’Have you seen Him who my soul loves?”
...Scarcely had I passed them when I found Him who my soul loves....
…Scarcely had I passed them when I found Him whom my soul loves….
...I held Him, and would not let Him go." Song of Solomon 3:1-4 (ESV)

Make yourself guidepost;

Consider well the highway,

Climbing Cave One – the road by which I went.

Journal Entry – 2/22/11 – 3:30 p.m. 28 degrees C or 82.4 degrees F

“Just climbed the side of the mountain, across from Mt. Nebo where Moses had his last look at the Promise Land. The Caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found.”

The sun was beginning to go down as our bus pulled up to the area where the first of the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Cave 1 area - February 2011

The story as told is in approximately 1946-1947, two shepherd boys were tending their sheep. As "boys will be boys" while playing lost one of their sheep. So in search, they climbed these hills.

The boys concerned for wild animals, possible hyenas and such, threw a rock into the cave, and as the saying goes, "the rest is history."

The rock hit something sounding like a "jar" breaking. This area, Cave 1, was the first find of the hidden scrolls believed penned by the Essenes prior to the Roman advance on their community, The Roman ultimate destination was Masada.

Our group may appear to be pausing for "photos", but really, we were out of breath! It looked a lot closer to reach from the bottom! Those shepherd boys would have to really be "playing" to miss a goat wandering up these hills!

The area of the Caves is on the northwest shore of the Dead Sea of Sea of Salt. Climbing these hills brought a rush of memories of climbing the Appalachian mountains in Pennsylvania in my younger days.

For myself, turning and looking across to see Mt. Nebo, where Moses would have stood looking toward the Promise Land (Cave 1 location is only a few miles south of Jericho where Joshua and the Israelites crossed over the Jordan) really gave me the sensation of having stepped into the Bible.

which is in the land of Moab, opposite Jericho,

and view the land of Cannaan, which I AM

giving to the people of Israel for a possession.”

I wonder if "Indiana" would have felt this way when he turned around and realized where he had just climbed? Climbing a part of history itself! Photo is looking back towards the Dead Sea.
