Wisdom Calls

“The Reading Room,

the Reading Room,

the reason that we came.

To walk the halls,

to hear the call,

Her “Wisdom” calls your name.

The Reading Room,

the Reading Room,

Her magnificence Great Hall.

To read the books,

to have a look,

and never be the same.

She’s wood and oak,

where words and prose,

and history grows

each volume they contain.

The oak line desks

only one could guess,

who sat in these before.

No photos here,

She’s far too dear,

and there’s clearance at the door.

She’s beautiful,

restful,

color that’s unchanged.

To walk the Hall,

Hear “Wisdom” call,

And never be the same.”

“Does not wisdom call?

Does not understanding raise her voice?

…for wisdom is better than jewels,

And all that you may desire cannot compare with her.” Proverbs 8:1-11 (ESV)

Flight 1602

This was penned as we made our way to DFW to begin our trip.

Our flight number was 1602. As the guys asked me questions of what I brought and did not bring, anxiety began to filter up. Panic and stress pressing in on every side! When in the battle, I pulled up the Bible App on my phone, looking up Psalm 16:02. Oh how the Word gives peace on the rockin’ waters of travel!

“I say to the LORD, ‘You are my Lord, I have no good apart from you.” Psalm 16:02 (ESV)

“In the car we travel…away we go.

Did we remember everything?

I guess we will never know!”
