Love Stepped Forward
Blood poured out.
Love stepped forward.
In Him,
No doubts.”
“…He went out with His disciples across the Kidron Valley, where there was a garden…
Judas having procured a band of soldiers…went there…
With lanterns and torches and weapons.
Jesus knowing all that would happen to Him, came forward and said to them, “Whom do you seek?” They answered him, “Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus said to them, “I AM”… they drew back and fell to the ground.” John 18:1-8 (ESV)

They Esteemed Him Not
“…he was despised, and we esteemed him not.” Isaiah 53:3
Poems to Ponder
Whom do I put my trust in? To rest at His feet and will.
He poured out His Blood to the point of death.
His fragrance covers me still.
“Now when Jesus was at Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, a woman came up to Him with an alabaster flask of very expensive ointment, and she poured it on His head as He reclined at table. And when the disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, “Why this waste?” Matthew 26:6-8
The Scripture clearly points out they were seated “at table” in “the house of Simon the leper”. Obviously, Simon was healed of leprosy, or Jesus and his disciples would not have been sitting in Simon’s home, and eating at his table. Unmistakably, Jesus must have healed Simon. One can only imagine how Jesus felt hearing His own disciples say, “Why this waste?” They “esteemed him not” and He loved them still.

Dust on His Feet
“He drank the cup,
I could not drink.
He walked the road,
Dust on His feet.
He washed me clean,
White,
Brand new.
Opening the door,
To spend time with
You.”
“And they were on the road, going up to Jerusalem,
and Jesus was walking ahead of them…saying,
“…the Son of man will be delivered over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death…they will mock him and spit on him, and flog him and kill him. And after three days he will rise.” Mark 10:32-34 (ESV)

The Garden Pressed
“I thank You Lord, for the Garden;
I thank You for the press.
I thank for Your Body,
When all the others left.
I thank you for the Blood.
Drops of fear shed
One by one.
I thank You for Your staying,
When the others chose to run.
I thank You for Your Love,
Reaching out, finding me.
Redeeming from the curse,
Your Sacrifice set me free!”
“Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane…sit here while I go over there to pray…He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed…”My soul is swallowed up in sorrow – to the point of death…He fell facedown and prayed.” Matthew 26:36-39 HCSB

In Confidence shall be your strength
I woke this morning thinking about Jesus’ week. Recalling, Tuesday if my memory is right, was the day Scripture was “quiet” about Jesus’ activities. No mention at all.
I wondered if Jesus, knowing all that was coming in the next few days, chose to stay in Bethany with His friends and disciples on last “quiet” day. A place of rest.
“In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” Isaiah 30:15 NKJV
The ESV uses the word “trust” in place of “confidence.
The Hebrew word is #982
Batech – visualize the letters in order.
Bet – Heart

Picture of a “tent or house”
Within, heart, begin to,
build, family.
Tet – Snake or the coiling or twisting and surrounding

Meaning: Twisting, Surrounding, Coiling
Chet – Fence – protection, inner place, and looking straight at the letter – the full-face of Jesus.

Word Picture – Fence
Meaning: – inner-room, protection,
private, to separate, full-face
“In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.”
What weakens,
Blows away,
Loosen,
Strangles,
Steals,
Destroys,
And
Kills our “confidence” and strength?
Looking at the letters,
The “twisting”

Meaning: Twisting, Surrounding, Coiling
the “snake” the “choking” place between our HEART

Picture of a “tent or house”
Within, heart, begin to,
build, family.
and the FULL FACE, Inner protection of Jesus.

Word Picture – Fence
Meaning: – inner-room, protection,
private, to separate, full-face
Confidence – the place between our heart and Jesus.
“In quietness and confidence/trust shall be your strength.” Isaiah 30:15
So I think as Jesus spent the day “quiet”, I’m going to “guard my heart” in His inner protection and strength, trusting in the One Who went all the way to the Cross for me.

Dust on His Feet

“He drank the cup,
I could not drink.
He walked the road,
Dust on His feet.

He washed me clean,
White,
Brand new.
Opening the door,
To spend time with
You.”

Psalm 23 (NLT)
Sunsetting over Judean Wilderness – looking towards Jerusaelm
“And they were on the road, going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking ahead of them…saying,
“…the Son of man will be delivered over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death…they will mock him and spit on him, and flog him and kill him. And after three days he will rise.” Mark 10:32-34 (ESV)
Jesus and His followers would have surely passed through this valley as they made their way, “up to Jerusalem”.
