Thunder Changes Direction – Capernaum Part Nine

What of James and John, the sons of Zebedee?

Jesus passed by their work place and their course of life, and names changed forever.

The Sons of Thunder, James the older and first to die for Jesus name in Jerusalem.

And John, forever to be known as the “one whom Jesus loved”.  Follower, disciple, and writer of the Gospel of John, 1 John, 2 John, 3 John and Revelation.

John’s is the English spelling for the Hebrew name “Johanan” which means “Jehovah is gracious”; hence, John represents “Grace”.

Grace represents the numeral five (5):

the fifth time Noah’s name is mentioned, it says “But Noah found grace…;”

the fifth time Ruth’s name is mentioned, “…in whose sight I may find favor or (grace);”

the fifth time David’s name is mentioned when we meet him in 1 Samuel 16, “…let David stand before me, for he has found favor (grace) in my sight.”

The Beloved John wrote five (5) books in the Bible;

Yes, John the disciple whom Jesus loved showered us with His Grace.

In Confidence shall be your strength

Pre-dawn

I woke this morning thinking about Jesus’ week. Recalling, Tuesday if my memory is right, was the day Scripture was “quiet” about Jesus’ activities. No mention at all.

I wondered if Jesus, knowing all that was coming in the next few days, chose to stay in Bethany with His friends and disciples on last “quiet” day. A place of rest.

“In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” Isaiah 30:15 NKJV

The ESV uses the word “trust” in place of “confidence.

The Hebrew word is #982

Batech – visualize the letters in order.

Bet – Heart

Strangles,

Destroys,

And

Confidence – the place between our heart and Jesus.

“In quietness and confidence/trust shall be your strength.” Isaiah 30:15

So I think as Jesus spent the day “quiet”, I’m going to “guard my heart” in His inner protection and strength, trusting in the One Who went all the way to the Cross for me.

Petals of Grace – Travel Journey

Prelude to “Petals of Grace” – Travel Journal Post

Last night, I prepared “Petals of Grace” as a continuing to my Travel Journal posts.

DSCN3315

Cozying into my early morning spot on the couch, spending some time quiet time, I began to question the post, and my plans to head out for early morning photos.

2015-05-16 Morning Grace

As I inquired, The Holy Spirit illuminated the “petals” in the post are actually “blossoms” from “almond” trees.

DSCN0515

Almond blossoms have a huge significance in Scripture. Remember Aaron’s staff budding? (Numbers 17:8)

My spirit ignited!

2015-12-19 Hearts turned - fire

What was He trying to tell me? I went digging for the Hebrew definition for “almond”.

The poem penned was written AFTER my quick dash out the door once I read the definition.

DSCN3383

Yep, it was a morning of “no sleep” as I “hasten” for what He had to show me. Whatever was out there, I was not going to miss the opportunity to “see”!

“Mr. Almond Blossom,

“No sleep” for you.

You’re the “first” to

Bloom in the morning dew.

“Remain” on the “look out”

To see what “springs”;

“Hasten to watch”

The almond blossom does sing!”

Look to see…

Looking out to see...
Looking out to see…

“I will take my stand at my watchpost

And station myself on the tower,

And look out to see what He will say to me…”

Habakkuk 2:1

One of the exciting things about travel, is the experiences of waiting to see.

View from Mt. Carmel 0231

Before leaving for Israel the first time, our travel guide assured us, we would each “see” or have a personal experience in the Holy Land.

Hearing those words, stirred the embers of my heart.

"And David said to the young men, "Go up to Carmel, and go to Nabal and greet him...Then (discerning and beautiful) Abigail made hast...and she met them (David and his men) and said ...the life of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of the living in the care of the LORD your God." 1 Samuel 25:1-43
“And David said to the young men, “Go up to Carmel, and go to Nabal and greet him…Then (discerning and beautiful) Abigail made haste…and she met them (David and his men) and said …the life of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of the living in the care of the LORD your God.” 1 Samuel 25:1-43

Our God is an all-encompassing God, Who doesn’t have to bring us to one specific place or land to have a personal encounter or experience with Him.

That would be putting you under Law, or as the Apostle Paul said, you have fallen from Grace” Galatians 5:4

"And Elijah said...seize the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape." 1 Kings 18:40
“And Elijah said…seize the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape.” 1 Kings 18:40
"Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain..."James 5:17 (ESV)
“Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain…”James 5:17 (ESV)

And limiting His Omnipotent power and divine wonder of His Holy Grace.

“For through the Spirit, by faith…”Galatians 5:5

Elisha too was on Mount Carmel. "When the man of God saw her (the Shunammite Woman) coming..."2 Kings 4:25 ESV
Elisha too was on Mount Carmel.
“When the man of God saw her (the Shunammite Woman) coming…”2 Kings 4:25 ESV

As I begin this week of Spring break, nine days of abundant travel right here at home, in faith, to His Faithfulness,

I am stationing myself on the watchtower to see, to hear what He will say to me.

I pray you too, will “rest” with me as He guides.

Delighting pen and heart,

as He shares the mysteries

and beauty of His precious Son,

Jesus.

Amen

My Comfort…as the mountains surround Jerusalem

Hillside view on the way to work.
Hillside view on the way to work.

“As the mountains surround Jerusalem,

So the LORD surrounds His people.” Psalm 125:5

Yep, that’s the verse.

In 2010, as I was driving to work,

Meditating on these words,

the Lord invite me to Jerusalem.

My heart skipped a beat with excitement.

But, after the initial burst of joy,

my mind took over, and

Fear set in!

It was too late,

the Scripture had dropped down into my heart,

And I knew,

that I knew,

I was going to Israel.

I was going to Jerusalem
I was going to Jerusalem

Coming up with a million and one reasons why

It was not possible for me to go to Israel.

One morning in prayer,

I cried out to the Lord,

Softly, He spoke to my spirit in His Word.

So I will comfort you..Isaiah 66:13
So I will comfort you..Isaiah 66:13

“As one whom his mother comforts,

So I will comfort you;

You will be comforted in Jerusalem.” Isaiah 66:13

“Lord, but what happens when I am in the middle

Of the 9000 mile journey,

in the air,

2016-02-16 Whisked Away map 3201

and the evil one whispers in my ear,

“you made a mistake…you heard wrong…”

 His gentleness,

He reminded me of Jesus’ answer

when the ol’ snake attempted to do

the same to Him.

Jesus spoke,

“It is written…”

It is written...Matthew 4:4
It is written…Matthew 4:4

So it began…I bought the most comfy fabric

And Israel took his journey. Genesis 46:1
And Israel took his journey. Genesis 46:1

“Thinking I will write the words.”

But the pen didn’t work very well on fleece.

So I started to stitch the words.

DSCN3314

With each stitch,

the Words began

To be engraved in my heart.

And from His faithfulness and Promises,

My “Comfort” blanket became alive with

Peace and hope.

When I asked, “Why do You want me to go?”

What I AM doing...John 13:7
“What I AM doing you do not understand now, but afterward you will understand.” John 13:7

When I asked, “What will I see?”

Your eyes will behold the King! Isaiah 33:17-24
Your eyes will behold the King! Isaiah 33:17-24

When I reminded Him, yet again, of all my responsibilities.

"but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion." Luke 10:42
“but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion.” Luke 10:42

When I asked how I was going to afford to go on a trip like this?

Shall I not...cause to bring forth? Isaiah 66:9

But I’m scared…

Do not be afraid...go to Galilee..Matthew 28:5-10

And when my heart began to believe…

Let us go at once...I myself am going! Zechariah 8:23
