Valiant of Heart

In Honor of our military service men and women.

Valiant of Heart

“Remembering Memorial Day and the

Red, White and Blue.

Those who served, and

Continue to do.

The keepers of rank, the

Valiant of heart;

May we thank you for your service,

For in freedom our day starts.”

Arlington – In Memory of our Fallen

Arlington

DSCN9671

“Americans they come.

We’re drawn here

One by one.

To walk the past,

Revealed in paths

Its quietness resides.

DSCN9701

On hallowed ground

We stand surround

By soldiers side by side.

The tunes of Taps

Forever last,

The bugle’s notes do cry.

DSCN9688

There’s valor here

And honor too;

The tomb of the Unknown.

A mother’s son or daughter,

Our nation’s fallen one.

Each lie in rest,

They are the best.

Their fighting now is done.

DSCN9671

Arlington

On sacred ground,

American flags do fly.

The carriage wheel,

The swords of steel,

Horses passing by.

To tunes of Taps

In sorrow past,

The Bugler’s note do cry.”

Photo 101 – Day 9 – Warmth and Light

I wonder…how many thoughts, ideas, tears, reflections, and plans have been made gazing beyond the warmth and light of this pane of glass.

“The heart of a man plans his way,

But the LORD establishes his steps.” Proverbs 16:9 (ESV)

Corridor window directly adjacent to the Rotunda of the Capital of the United States. Captured late afternoon June 4, 2015.

“The U.S. Capitol Rotunda is a large, domed, circular room 96 feet in diameter and 180 feet in height located in the center of the United States Capitol on the second floor. The Rotunda is used for important ceremonial events as authorized by concurrent resolution, such as the lying in state of eminent citizens and the dedication of works of art.” Capitol-Rotunda

Photo101 – Day 7 – BIG

From the city of BIG, the Washington Monument. A ladder to the heavens!

“From the top of the Washington Monument, each visitor is treated to an unequal view of the city of Washington. Visibility can be over 40 miles on a clear day from the tallest structure in the city.” Quote from “Washington, DC” by Impact Photography
“…there was a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached the heaven.” Genesis 28:12 (ESV)

Pull It In Tight

“My country boy;

use to lots of movement in his path of life.

Sunshine and green pasture;

to his hearts’ delight.

But in the City,

everything is “little bitty”

He has to pull it in tight!”

Poem by denisebalog©

Arriving to begin our vacation in Washington, DC. My 17 year-old boy walking to the baggage claim. I was afraid he might knock someone out with all his elbow room and the air space is was taking up! Oklahoma to the city:)

Washington Rain

Arrived home safely from early June family vacation in Washington, D.C. Over the next few days, I would like to share some of our reflections and sights.

“Washington in the rain;

I would not refrain,

nor be hesitant to do.

The City of White,

a magnificent sight;

she shows off her

red, white and blue.

The Monuments too,

reflecting their view,

are seen all around;

their the talk of the town!

Sunshine or rain,

the message the same;

AMERICA

May God bless you!”

Poem by denisebalog©

Street Rhythm

“Laying in my bed in Washington;
listening to the City down below.
The movement of the early morning traffic; the rhythm and its flow.
The rumble of the train;
the gentle falling rain.
The whistle and the horn;
my early morning alarm.
With its distance from afar,
it sounds like the Shofar.
The rumble of the track,
it brings the workers back.
The sounds,
the beeps,
the  voices on the street;
the rhythm of the music,
makes my trip complete.”
